Repreived from extinction on more than one occasion it is a shining example of conservation at its best!! Fully functioning, historic and mechanical expertise in abundance in the machinery housed in the original buildings... A MUST VISIT place if you like engines or canals or trains... Or the quintessential beauty of the heritage of England in full working order... ENJOY!!!
If you are motivated by engineering history and how it was possible to shift canal boats over a hill through pumped water then this is the place for you. Easy parking. Loo's. Great cafe.
A brilliant place where you can experience 200 years of steam technology within a fantastic engine house and surrounding countryside. The volunteers are always happy to talk and have a real interest for their subject. Highly recommend a visit!
